Nephew going to school

A very short and sweet post.

 

My nephew will be here soon.

He is 17 years old and in high school (China)

 

What documents and papers should he get from china so he can attend high school here in the states?

Good question, this probably varies from state to state and district to district.

 

Probably get a school record from china and see about having it translated, my wife had one from college and I translated it here in the states and had a friend conversant in Chinese certify it.

 

Other than that, I would suspect the school will place him in the same grade as others his age, require proof of vaccinations, and SSN.

 

I can remember back in my junior high days several Laotian Refugees being placed in my school, it was amazing how fast they came up to speed for language.
