Atrocities in Nanking WW 2

After seeing this film clip I can now understand what one of my uncles who was a US Marine in WW2 in the South Pacific said after fighting a war he could not commit himself to kill a house fly. Brutal video.

Nanjing was a horror through and through. Iris Chang's book details those horrors in a vivid narrative. Other areas of China, especially in Jiangsu and Anhui along the river, also saw similar crimes. Cities like Wuhu and Ma'anshan, along qith Anqing were brutalized as well. My wife's grandparents experienced these horrors first hand as they lived in that area.

There are still some bombed out buildings in Nanning that can be seen from WW2. Many time American planes from Kunming, China bombed Nanning in order to slow the Japanese advance. A good example of destroying a city in order to save it.
