dnoblett
What is it with Malaysia Airlines? First they lose a 777 last March, and it still has not been found, now they fly another 777 in restricted airspace over Ukraine, and get shot down. Link to comment

dnoblett
The dangers of flying over a war zone. The region has seen severe fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia separatist rebels in recent days. On Wednesday evening, a Ukrainian fighter jet was shot down by an air-to-air missile from a Russian plane, Ukrainian authorities said Thursday, adding to what Kiev says is mounting evidence that Moscow is directly supporting the separatist insurgents in eastern Ukraine. Security Council spokesman Andrei Lysenko said the pilot of the Sukhoi-25 jet hit by the air-to-air missile was forced to bail after his jet was shot down. Pro-Russia rebels, meanwhile, claimed responsibility for strikes Wednesday on two Ukrainian Sukhoi-25 jets. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said the second jet was hit by a portable surface-to-air missile, but added the pilot was unscathed and managed to land his plane safely More: http://www.kirotv.com/ap/ap/top-news/official-malaysian-plane-shot-down-over-ukraine/nghL7/ Link to comment
dnoblett
This could be the end of Malaysian AirlinesI was thinking the same thing, airlines cannot afford these losses and the resulting lawsuits, even if the loss is caused by forces out of their control. Link to comment
Thomas Promise
The plane may not have been shot down by a missle. It may have been internal. Blowing up a plane at 33,000 ft. most of the crew and passengers would be killed before the plane hit the ground. May God have mercy on their souls. Link to comment
