Chinese police to patrol Paris streets

The French police will strengthen its patrols in tourist spots and public transportation hubs, and will invite more than 10 Chinese police officers to patrol with them, according to Cazeneuve.

In addition to patrolling major tourist spots, the Chinese police officers will serve as interpreters when the Chinese tourists need to communicate with the French police, Cazeneuve said.

The specific arrangement is still under negotiation, and will be revealed to the public soon, the Police Liaison Section of Chinese Embassy in France said.

Last year, around 1.5 million Chinese people visited France, spending 571 million euros. The number increased by a further 40 percent this year after France simplified the visa application process for Chinese applicants.

We could be getting some of those tourist dollars if the USCIS were to ease up restrictions.
