Thomas Promise
California Chrome wins by 5 lengths. Mint julip and all. This champion horse was bought for $8K not a bad return on ROI. He paid $7 or 3 1/2 one odds. Preakness is next. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/5/1/5670236/2014-kentucky-derby-odds-california-chrome Link to comment
Dennis143
While walking through some stables, the men who own now California Chrome were looking for a thoroughbred horse to invest in a groom stopped and asked them if they were interested in CC? He said "If you are, you're a bunch of dumb assess". And so they bought him and named themselves the Dumbass Association. Link to comment

They did buy her and bred her to a non-rock star stud. But, yeah, you are right, that is where they got the name of their "farm". Greg 1 Link to comment

Greg Thanks, Greg. ...His story is interesting not just because he comes from a one-horse stable -- DAP, which stands for "dumb ass partners" and features a donkey as a on their silks. California Chome doesn't come from a strong pedigree either, the offspring of an $8,000 mare and $2,500 sire. Before Kentucky, he had never raced outside his home state, California... Link to comment
Greg.D.
By the way: the horse that placed second "Commanding Curve" finished with a bullet. Thinking he might do even better (like first?) in the longer races coming up.G Link to comment
