Randy W
A motorcycle trip through Guangdong and Guangxi to Guilin and Yangshuo, and back to Shenzhen Kind of a mundane, above amateur-ish quality, but may still be of interest and you may want to watch for the scenery. Much better than what I could do. About 20-30 mins. each - 8 videos in all from an expat who goes by the name of serpentza https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJMM4NisWTg&list=PLnomKWGvsVJ0zLuEZgr0K2CGYY7Ht8B_x Come along with me as I ride through Southern China to one of the most famous and beautiful places in China.... He's the guy who claims that "Motorcycles are banned in China - it's just not enforced", even while he has the papers and registration to prove that HIS is "perfectly legal" He does a good job on some of his videos - you may find others worth watching also 1 Link to comment
NickF
Fun to watch because I again got to see a lot of places I'd seen before. Including the hotel where ChunMei and I stayed. And the McDonalds. We spend 4 days in Yangshuo during New year, and it was about the best vacation I ever had. Rented a couple of bikes, hired a local guide, and spent a couple of days touring the countryside. Spent another three days in Guilin, as well. 1 Link to comment
NickF
Just finished watching Part 4. About half way through he stops to take a picture at the place where we rented our bikes. Now I really want to go back! Hopefully next New Year. Link to comment
Randy W
I haven't watched this one yet - it's still downloading. Marty isn't quite as endearing as "Beer Girl" was Day 1 - Conquering Southern China Link to comment
Mick
I have watched it, Randy. Much of it is filmed in Ruyuan, a small city in northern Guangdong, near the border with Hunan. They explore parts of the old city, which are run down but interesting. Also, the local minority women sit on the walkway next to the river and do needlepoint while singing in a high-pitched voice that is kind of like fingernails on a chalk board. Ruyuan has been featured briefly in some of his previous videos, mostly as a stop over. I visited there once while living in China. I had several students from there and got the grand tour. The mountains around the city a splendid. I liked Ruyuan a lot, although I am not sure why. Had some great food there - some coming from the Yao minority and some also with a distinctive Hunan flavor, which means it was a five-alarm fire in your mouth. Link to comment
