Thomas Promise
Terrible! More than 10 knife-wielding attackers slashed people at a train station in southwestern China late Saturday in what authorities called a terrorist attack by Uighur separatists, and police fatally shot five of the assailants, leaving 34 people dead and 130 others injured. In addition to this the Russians are invading the Ukraine now. One little spark could set off a world wide disaster like WW1 did. http://www.journal-news.com/news/ap/top-news/china-train-station-attack-an-act-of-terrorism/nd32p/ Link to comment

Also the video said that there may be another 5 killers on the loose.I don't understand what those killers think will be gain but such a hideous action. How can they believe that they will garner any support for their cause? Danb. Link to comment

Randy W
Things to be aware of on your next trip to China. I'm not sure how extensive the security measures are away from the major cities, but the wife tells me we may be staying away from public transportation for a while - driving instead, including to Guangzhou. Security stepped up in anti-terror efforts Enhanced police presence, emergency response teams on city streetsChina has stepped up security efforts to maintain stability, increasing police on the streets and seeking popular participation in anti-terrorism and crime tip-offs, after the launch of a nationwide campaign in late May.A total of 22 specially-altered ambulances have been stationed at 22 key areas day and night in Beijing since June 1 to assist efforts to protect the capital, said the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) Beijing Branch. . . . Armed police are also on patrol at Hangzhou International Airport in Zhejiang Province, while police officers and cadets in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region are feeling pressured amid more patrols and intensive weapons drills, according to the South China Morning Post. The Ministry of Public Security on Sunday announced that police across the country will also start a year-long operation to pool information for early identification of terrorist groups. Terrorists will be eternally punished even though they are dead because they are deeply guilty of killing innocent people. Bad news saddens us time and time again, and this time it was 19:10 on April 30, 2014. Our hearts started bleeding once again when innocent people were killed and maimed, and the hearts of the 79 injured were left with indelible scars. Expert’s Voices SharifPresident of Algerian El Khabar newspaper The terrorist events in Urumqi of Xinjiang shocked me and I support anti-terrorism actions taken by the Chinese government. All peace-loving and righteous countries and people around the world will stand by the Chinese government and Chinese people. We strongly oppose any form of anti-human violence or terrorism. With its booming economy, China ensures its people opportunities for better lives. To maintain such development, China should not tolerate any terrorist activities. China will resort to every possible means to eliminate terrorists groups and punish violent criminals. Edited June 25, 2014 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment
