Medical certificate-verification record-notarial birth certificate-gre

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm trying to thoroughly educate myself regarding the birth certificate issue as the immigration lawyer dealing with my wife's immigration to Canada is saying a non- availability certificate is needed (http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/46601-birth-certificate-versus-notarial-birth-certificate/).

I'd be grateful if somebody could comment on what the difference is between these four different birth related documents?

1) Medical certificate of birth (mentioned here: http://www.ehow.com/how_6402241_obtain-chinese-birth-certificate.html)

2) Verification record (also mentioned here: http://www.ehow.com/how_6402241_obtain-chinese-birth-certificate.html)

3) Notarial birth certificate. (also mentioned here: http://www.ehow.com/how_6402241_obtain-chinese-birth-certificate.html)

4) Green official birth certificate (mentioned here: http://www.ecoi.net/local_link/143740/244570_en.html)

Thank you

The green official birth certificate was introduced country-wide in 1996 based on the Law of the Peoples Republic of China on Maternal and Infant Health Care. It is the official birth [certificate] accepted by the Public Security Bureau as medical evidence for household registration for [a] new-born baby, and as the medical evidence for a new-born baby to be granted nationality.

When a baby is born, the family is issued a medical certificate of birth or the verification record. This is a form that is filled out soon after the child's birth at the hospital and generally only used for domestic household registration purposes.

If your wife was born AFTER 1996, she may have a "green official birth certificate", but, of course, would be too young to legally marry.

If her family were to be able to produce the piece of paper issued at the time of birth in the form of the "medical certificate of birth or the verification record", it was used to add her information to the family hukou (household registration), and is NOT valid for any other legal purpose.

You need to subtly ask for your documentation back from the lawyer so that you can take your business somewhere else or do it yourself.
