In this photo provided by the North Korean government, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un speaks during a Politburo meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party in Pyongyang, North Korea, Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Kim ripped into senior ruling party and government officials over what he described as a serious lapse in national efforts to fend off COVID-19. The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said Wednesday, June 30, 2021 that Kim made the comments during the meeting, which he called to discuss a “grave incident” in anti-epidemic work that he said created a “huge crisis” for the country and its people. SEOUL, South Korea — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un berated top officials for failures in coronavirus prevention that caused a “great crisis,” using strong language that raised the specter of a mass outbreak in a country that would be scarcely able to handle it.

The state media report Wednesday did not specify what “crucial” lapse had prompted Kim to call the Politburo meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party, but experts said the North could be wrestling with a significant setback in its pandemic fight.

So far, North Korea has claimed to have had no coronavirus infections, despite testing thousands of people and sharing a porous border with China. Experts widely doubt the claim and are concerned about any potential outbreak, given the country’s poor health infrastructure.

At the Politburo meeting, Kim criticized the senior officials for supposed incompetence, irresponsibility and passiveness in planning and executing anti-virus measures amid the lengthening pandemic, the North’s official Korean Central News Agency said.

Kim said “senior officials in charge of important state affairs neglected the implementation of the important decisions of the party on taking organizational, institutional, material, scientific and technological measures as required by the prolonged state emergency epidemic prevention campaign,” according to the KCNA. This “caused a crucial case of creating a great crisis in ensuring the security of the state and safety of the people and entailed grave consequences.”

The report also said the party recalled an unspecified member of the Politburo’s powerful Presidium, which consists of Kim and four other top officials.

The reference indicated Kim may replace his Cabinet Premier Kim Tok Hun, who would be held responsible for failures in the government’s anti-epidemic work, said Hong Min, a senior analyst at Seoul’s Korea Institute for National Unification.

Kim Jong Un was quietly helping design North Korean wine bottles, cargo ships, and school uniforms when he mysteriously vanished from public life, report says

  • The North Korean leader mysteriously vanished from the public eye several times in 2021.
  • NK News found the dates matched up with times Kim was judging designs for national projects.
  • Experts have speculated that Kim, who appeared to have lost weight this year, was taking sick leave.

The North Korean leader vanished several times between January and May, prompting some experts who keep close tabs on Kim's every move to speculate he might be unwell.

But according to NK News, Kim's absences matched up with dates displayed at Thursday's national industrial art exhibition in Pyongyang, which showed when Kim had been judging the designs.

Footage of the event, broadcast by the state-run KCTV news network, showed a large display board that listed 25 days this year when Kim was "guiding" some 110 designs to their completion, NK News said.

Freedom is not free. Even though this North Korean defector did everything he could to be free, he still got captured and about to be killed by authoritarian regimes.

Zhu Xianjian is 39 years old who escaped North Korea from starvation. China put him in a labor camp for more than 10 years and was about to repatriate him back to North Korea to be executed by Kim Jong-Un.
He bravely escaped the Chinese prison 40 days ago, however got recaptured and brutally shot by CCP.
This is what the horrors of CCP look like and how the 400,000 North Korean defectors in China are being treated.
In this 21st century, this is what the people under Communist regimes go through.
Slavery never ended. People are continuously being enslaved in Communist countries like North Korea and China.
North Korean Lives Matter!
#NorthKoreanLivesMatter
Please share this hashtag and help me to raise awareness about the horrors ofthe Chinese Communist Party and save Zhu Xianjian from inhumane repatriation to North Korea.
It is time to stand up for the people who are actually suffering from real tyranny and oppression.
As free people, it is our duty to speak for the voiceless so when the time comes and when we are not free, they will do the same for us...

I still cannot believe I own myself and I am the master of my own destiny here in freedom.
I never even knew the word individual liberty when I was living in North Korea.
Nothing is more valuable than individual liberty in this world. Without it, being a human means nothing.
This marvelous human experience is only possible when there is a system that protects human rights and dignifies be a human.

We must protect and fight for individual liberty at all costs if we wish to continue to innovate and evolve as a human specie.
