Does the petitioner go to the interview?

Hi, I'm new here. Wish I'd found you guys earlier, we are already preparing for the interview. Anyway, I've got a dumb question. I am a US citizen and I'm the petentioner for my chinese wife to get her immigrant visa. Does she go to the interview alone, or do we go together? Do I have a seperate interview? I'm pretty sure she goes alone, but she says she read on other chinese forums that I need to go to the interview also.

You you can't go to her interview. And, you don't have an interview yourself.

The consulate just moved into a new location in Guangzhou so this may change at some time, but no Petitioner has not been allowed to attend the interview, only beneficiary is interviewed at the consulate.

 

What many do is travel to China and wait outside the consulate while beneficiary interviews, so as to support the beneficiary, and when beneficiary attends the interview petitioner gives them their US passport to bring into the interview as a way to show petitioner is there with them.
