And while Carl is about 2 miles south of us, in the past, it might as well have been the difference of two climate zones -- Bing, has historically produced great food gardens, to our mediocre attempts, but this year, we have something special: Our hardy banana, which I bought as a novelty at WalMart for 5$ -- 6 or 7 years ago, is actually producing bananas ~ ! warpedbored Posted June 5, 2013 Report Share Posted June 5, 2013 Chinese engineering at it's finest. Bamboo is wonderful stuff and no one is more resourceful with it than the Chinese. There are some varieties in southern China that grow as much as 4 feet a day. Another interesting fact about bamboo is the diameter of the shoot when it comes out of the ground is how big the cane will be. It won't get any bigger in diameter. Link to comment
