Our Garden

Recommended Posts

"Great stuff guys.." So true Tsap ~ ! And while Carl is about 2 miles south of us, in the past, it might as well have been the difference of two climate zones -- Bing, has historically produced great food gardens, to our mediocre attempts, but this year, we have something special: Our hardy banana, which I bought as a novelty at WalMart for 5$ -- 6 or 7 years ago, is actually producing bananas ~ ! In Portland Oregon!

Love the bamboo trellis, looks like our back yard.

Well, I'm afraid y'all are gonna have to put up with my crazy antics here.

More of Baba's handiwork.

In one day mind you.

This thread means more to me than anyone can know.

As I said in the beginning, this freedom to do this, this being home, was paramount to my survival in China.

Chinese engineering at it's finest. Bamboo is wonderful stuff and no one is more resourceful with it than the Chinese. There are some varieties in southern China that grow as much as 4 feet a day. Another interesting fact about bamboo is the diameter of the shoot when it comes out of the ground is how big the cane will be. It won't get any bigger in diameter.
