Photo sharing and organizing and storing

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a copy of questions. I take a fair amount of photo's when I visit China. I am not that good at it. Some come out great and some not so good. I have them stored all over the place. On thumb drives , computers, memory cards, video cameras, and still cameras and cell phones. I need to organize them. I also need to label them. I need to rotate some of them . Especially the ones off of my cell phones. I also have some older photo's from an older analog camera. Those analog photo's I had put on CD or DVD's. First question is there a prefer software that would help me organize all of photos. The second question is where should store them. I have heard that they can stored out on the net. If I do that then does everyone have access to my photo's? There are some photo's that I don't mind sharing but there are other's that I just might want to only share with relatives in another state. I got to believe those photo files are pretty big. Even the android phones camera must produce files that are rather large. Isn't it going to take forever to send or upload those files. Any ideas or suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

We visited Shangdong Province and Beijing last year. I have some photo's of some Beijing temples, power plants, bullet trains and some places that were awfully beautifull in Shangdong province.. We went to Lingyan Temple. It was such a senere and peace place to visit. i was looking at some of the my photos of that temple. We also visited Chengdu. I really like the seeing the Pandas. But my photo taking skills were really off that day. Very disappointed in most of those photo's.

A photo site that lets you store a lot of photos I use is photo bucket, you can password protect albums or set albums to public, the do offer tools to rotate pictures. I tend to use photo bucket for pictures I share on CFL because they generate the tags that can directly be pasted in posts here. http://photobucket.com/

Other options are Google+ this works with Picasa and apps for iPhone iPod and android. Picasa organizes pictures and allows for adjustments and labeling, Also google+ has privacy settings for albums.

The one I like is called Photoelf - it allows you to browse photos in whatever directory you choose to put them in. I'll use a separate directory for each trip, for example. It will display a page full of thumbnails at a time, which helps find what you're looking for. It has some built-in photo editing functions (I prefer Photoshop for that). Another thing it does really well is in printing multiple photos on a single page, allowing you to fully control the layout.

Do any of these sites offer video hosting? Just short video clips?

I've been living in China for 2 years now with my wife and our daughter (just over 2 years old). My wife's parents live with us and take care of our kid while we are at work. We will move to the US in the next year or so (whenever we get the visa) and it will be very difficult for my wife's parents, as they are quite attached to my daughter. Not only would I want to share picures regularly, but I was wondering if any of these sites also could host short video clips.
