I-130 Question: How do I fill out a spouse's Chinese name/address

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of helping my brother fill out the I-130 form for his spouse in China. As far as I know, she doesn't have an English name, and her name is printed in Chinese characters on the marriage certificate. How do I fill out the I-130 form for her name and address? Do I have to get them translated? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Fill in the form using her Pinyin name.

My wife's name is Yu Yang which is Pinyin for 杨煜 YangYu

Also note Chinese tend to go by Family Name first then Givin Name In the example Yang is family Yu is given when filling out form make sure Given is "First Name" and Family is "Last Name" .. Yu Yang.

Later in forms there will be an area that says write name here if language uses other than roman characters, there you would put Chinese Characters 杨煜

As for address, again you use the Pinyin address.

Also my wife does go by Rosemary as an English name, it is a nic-name and we never used it on any forms, a nic-name is not "Other Names Used" unless it was used in a legal sence. Other Names Used is for prior married names or maiden names.
