And by the time she drove us home she would not talk to me for a half hour. Kept mumbling BAD man, bad teacher, bad cat man.

 

She has a lot of bad Chinese driving habits to unlearn.

Oh BOY, My wife had same problem, NY made the written easy, the test was 20 questions all in Chinese. The driving test was the challenge, it took her a long time and SIX road tests to understand that this is NOT memorization, it is demonstrating competence behind the wheel. The road tested could feel if good or bad driver. I knew prior to sixth road test that she would pass because her driving style changed.

 

Chinese tend to use rote learning to learn things, that is drill, drill, drill memorizing things, this is not how to learn to drive a car, driving is learned through real world practice.
