mikeymark
Has anyone experienced Chinese airport customs charging you a tax for bringing your personal electronics into the country? Reference today's article: http://english.sina....416/458514.html Edited April 16, 2012 by mikeymark (see edit history)
dnoblett
Never a problem, as long as it is a personal item you should have no problems, only with items they suspect bringing in to ultimately sell. From the above link.. Goods for personal use worth 5,000 yuan or less are still exempt from import taxes. So unless the electronic item is worth more than $800 you should have no issues, same should be the case for a laptop even when valued more than 5,000 yuan, never hear of issues with a personal laptop.
