What do we need to do to go to England?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone! Hope all is going well with all of you. Quick question. We want to go to London to visit my wife's daughter. She's a student there. Is there anything different that we need to do because Rosie (my wife) has her green card? She lives in China some of the time and here the rest. More here (USA) than China. Bristish website says she has to have a visa. How difficult are they to get? How long do they take? Sorry for all the questions. Rosie is a Chinese national. Thanks!! Marc and Rosie

First step is to visit the UK Embassy Website in Washington DC...

Not hard to get, perhaps a week or so.

Work your way to this page: http://ukinusa.fco.g...iting-uk/visas/

Then to this page: http://www.ukba.home...me=UK%20English

Note if plan on visiting other countries like Ireland and the rest of Europe, will need additional visas, Ireland is one, and most of Europe uses another called the Shengen visa... MORE: http://www.schengenvisa.cc/

Studying this page: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/usa/processing-times/?langname=UK%20English#resultTableAnchor

May confuse at first, but doing simple math to understand...

Row you are interested in is General less than 6 months. 71% for 2 days, 90% 3 days, 96% 5 days, 98% 10 days, 99% 15 days, 99% 40 days, and 100% beyond that. Here is how to understand this, sub the pecercent from 100 and that is the number of 100 people that take that long to get a visa, so for example 100-71 = 29 so 29 out of 100 get a visa with 2 days of processing, and 10 of 100 take 3 days, ... It seems that the numbers include ALL visa types. but as you can see the majority of visit visas tend to take 10 days or less to process.
