Randy W
Note where it says "Official working days". These are required working days (for everyone following the official government schedule), which make up for specific days added to the holiday. For example, they work on Dec. 31 (Saturday) in order to get an extra day off on Jan. 2. At a university, for example, the classes held on Tuesday would meet on Sat. Dec 31 instead. The consulate does not follow these "official working days", so their employees would NOT get the Tues. Jan. 3 day off. In general, a Chinese holiday of 7 or eight days would have 2 or 3 "official working days" (makeup days) that the consulate does not honor. The consulate's schedule for 2012 is on this page - http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/service/holidays.html Link to comment
