Overseas, or in the USA as in a K-1? If overseas, the consulate will need to see the origional certs + translations. Green-card is issued automattically if used a spouse visa. USCIS only requires a photo copy of the cert+translation when filing I-130. If adjusting from a K-1 again USCIS only requires a photo copy attached to the I-485. In any case, get Two birth certs, and Two marriage certs and translations. 1 set for immigrations, and a spare set for any future uses. Link to comment
