Jerry & xiaomin
Hello everyone, My wife has been here for almost a year and a half now, originally on a fianc¨¦e visa [now on a 2-year green card]. We indicated that she wasn't going to work when she first got here, but now she's comfortable enough with our culture that she wants to look for a job. Can somebody point me to what form we have to file, and with whom? Thank you,Jerry & Xiaomin Link to comment
dnoblett
Nothing to file. Green-card is work authorization. Apply for a job, when employer asks for proof or work authorization, show SSN and Photo ID (Green-card), if SSN card has "Valid with DHS auth", then needs show green-card. Note: Once having green-card is best to go to SSA office and apply for a replacement card that has the "DHS" notation removed, so then only need to show SSN card, and some sort of photo ID like a state ID or DL to prove employment authorized.
