US Ambassador Jon Huntsman for president?

Interesting fellow, Huntsman. breaks the mold somewhat---rides his bike around Beijing, (normally, that should be about a three car motorcade, with dark tinted windows) --- WSJ has an amusing account about Huntsman---summoned for a diplomatic dressing down by the PRC government, he pedaled off to the Foreign Ministry. "Flustered guards there, expecting the U.S. representative to sweep up in an armored Cadillac made him park by a side gate and walk in."

 

Huntsman is fluent in Mandarin (as was his predecessor---to America's diplomatic corps's credit) but with a long history in Taiwan at an early age, and a strong family business background. First time in Beijing was in 1984, as a Reagan aide meeting Deng---so he goes way back. Personal favorite characteristic: Adopted daughter from China. ---- but currently, making sure that Hu's visit isn't the disaster of missteps as occurred during the 2006 (Bush admn.) visit.
