iyan46
We will be filing for my stepsons 10yr card soon and he wants to change only his first name ... how do we do that? We had no problems at all changing the wifes last name when we did her 10 yr card. Just not sure about the sons first name only part ... anyone know if we can just change it when we file? dnoblett
I beleive that is something that requires to be done legally. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_change My wife changed family name when we were married, however changing a first name tends to be a legal thing that varies from state to state. My wife has an English "nic-name" as do many Chinese I know, however it is just that, her legal first name remained same as always her Chinese given name. Link to comment

iyan46
We will get the name change before he files for his 10yr .... makes it easier. Hard part is for him to pick a name ... told him " You can only have one " now he has to decide what he wants his new name to be Link to comment
