TaijiMonkey
My wife has been asked to come to France to teach a seminar. Can anyone tell me how or IF that is possible? She has her 2-year GC, but I have no idea how I would go about getting her a French Visa since she is still a Chinese Citizen... Anyone? Link to comment
dnoblett
It is possible, however she WILL need to get a visa to visit France. http://www.ambafrance-us.org/spip.php?article359 May be able to get a Shengen visa from France allowing visiting other European countries, however not the UK, that is another Visa. Randy W
Ask the people giving the seminar if they can help. There may be a visa for exactly this purpose. Link to comment

Eric&Yuhui
There is no such thing as a French only visa anymore.Visa is now the Schengen visa allowing entry in and movement within any of the E.U countries ( minus U.K and Ireland , plus Iceland and Norway, although those two are technically not E.U but part of the Nordic Passport Union. )Short term Schengen is $75If you happen to be a spouse of a EU citizen of the Schengen zone, you can get a 3 year multiple entries Schengen visa as freebee ( "Family relative" ). That's what my wife has. Movement through Schengen EU countries is simple... we were never asked for docs within EU, only upon entry to Germany. In our home city, the Schengen visa was easier to get from Germany as German consulate has attache' here that is delegated to perform the interview. For France we'd have required a trip to San Francisco for interview... so we built our itinerary around entering and exiting EU through Germany. You do have to enter and exit via the country that issued visa. I'm not sure about the Schengen visa for business purposes (as the seminar you note might be considered). Note - Germany was quite specific about travel dates for EU entry and exit. You must have issued tickets to get visa and our's was issued without much extra time on either end of our itinerary. Not much concern with inter EU travel itinerary as long as you enter and exit within time allowed. Feel free to PM me if you have questions about our experience. Good luck. Link to comment
