p4 questions (right before the interview)

Recommended Posts

i have some more questions. in this thread:

http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...c=37290&hl=

the OP mentioned the visa fee and ems fee. i'll be bringing the receipt for the earlier visa fee (i think it was ~$350 or so), so that's no prob.

1. but the other visa fee, is the amount $445 USD?

2. what is the ems fee (and how much is it)? is this what u pay to china post in order to pickup one's passport (w/ the immigrant visa attached inside) a few days after the interview is over? or does this ems fee only apply to guangzhou residents who want to have their passports mailed to their homes?

3. are there any other fees besides these two?

I covered all of this in our write-up thread. I tried to document how much we spent - so it should give you a general idea. Keep in mind that fees do change over time. We covered, the EMS fees, Hospital fees, visa fees, etc.

Keep in mind that when I discussed our visa fee that I did not include our previously I-130 submission fee (from Beijing). All fees documented are in addition to that.

There are several separate posts covering our week in GUZ.

What we did:

For 12 and 13 we used our Chinese address. For number 12 we typed our physical address in pinyin and for 13 we put "same as above" since we also receive our mail at that address.

15. China

EDIT:

We made sure all of our information matched (address/contact information): Tax returns, I-130, I-864, etc.

kyle,

so just to clarify, u were based here in china for the past few yrs, that is why u wrote down your chinese address? and then u provided evidence that u will (or have) re-established US domicile?

my situation is: the past 5-yrs i've lived and worked in SH. i didnt maintain my US domicile during those 5-yrs. however, i have re-established US domicile by securing an apartment ready the moment i step foot on US soil again, in addition to securing a job in the US ready for me the moment i move there.

given those facts, how would u recommend i fill out items 12, 13, and 15? thanks again.

Our situations are basically identical. I did maintain several American investments while in China.

I already told you what I did.

Just to give you an idea of how we faced the US domicile issue, I'll give you a link that lists all of the information we took. Folders 3, 8, and 9 covered our US domicile issue. Concerning folder 8 - on past visits to the US, I managed to add my wife as a joint-owner to our American checking account.

It was a lot of stuff, and you're right, we also suspected a lot of it was overkill. Still, we took it just in-case.
