lostinblue
I was doing a final check of the paperwork to e-mail the required documents. On the divorce certificate is one birth date and on the birth certificate is a birthdate for a month earlier. It seems Yan and her ex desired to enroll their son into school a year early. So they changed his birth date on his hukou. Thus when we went to have a birth certificate made out by the notery. The date is of the one on the hukou. Divorce papers show one month later. Opinions on should we write a letter pointing this out or maybe just let it slide. I know a bit strange Link to comment
dnoblett
I would let slide, and see if USCIS issues an RFE. Doubt it will generate an RFE, it probably would look like a typo on the Birth Cert or Divorce Cert and not be questioned. I would use birth cert DOB on paperwork, and let them treat Divorce Cert as a typo. Link to comment

There were so many discrepancies with my wife's information that caused me to worry. Her birth date was off by 3 years. The family has 2 hukou's--who knows why. Her father purposely gave her the wrong one the first time around. One shows the real age of her father and the other shows him much older. There were so many inconsistencies in the paper work we submitted that I am surprised that no questions arose. Dates and times just don't seem to matter as much in China. Link to comment
