Chinese Document Translation

When submitting the I-130 form for either a K3 or CR-1 visa, the checklist states to have translated copies of all requested documents. (ie: marrriage certificate, divorce decree etc...) What is the best way to do this? Attach a seperate sheet indicating both foriegn AND English languages? How have others satisfied this requirement? Thanks.

she gets them from her hukou in china, they come with both chinese and english pages.

She has to get the birth certificate from her hometown (where he hukou is located). They provide a white booklet which is offical document in chinese, offical translation of the document to english, the offical statement in chinese that the document is true and offical, and the offical translation in english saying the same thing. Four pages all together bound in a white book with an offical embossed stamp on the cover.

 

The marriage certificate you will need to same white book. You will have to get married in the Foreign Affairs Office in the capital of her home province than take the marriage certificate to the notary office to get the white booklet.

 

Your wife should call the offices to make sure of the local procedures. They are very familiar with the white books needed for visa applications.

The China Notarial Certificates should be in Chinese with an English translation. Each page should have a watermark embeded in the paper in Chinese characters.The official stamp(red ink) of the city it was prepared in will be on the first page and the pages should be consecutively numbered(serial) along with the stamp of the Notary Office that prepared it all bounded in a white cover. There are two (2) types prepared; the two (2) page, and the four (4) page type. The US consulate accepts the 4 page type. Other countries will accept either. Canada will accept the 2 page type but make sure you get the 4 page translations.

 

The paper is an official parchment with serial numbers and watermarks. Very valuable. I have heard of people paying good money to get hold of this type of paper on the black market. The Notary's stamp and the official stamp of the city should be on the first page. Also, all pages should be embossed with the official stamp of the city.

This is a highly official and legal document to have and to use in China and the United States. Get at least 2 copies of all documents involved, (marriage, birth, divorce, etc.) to bring to the US.
