jp2008
To all CFL members and guests, If you haven't been following my posts here is a quick summary: Our case recieved a blue slip in GUZ on Mar. 16th. Luckily, we were only asked for an additional co-sponsor due to financial reasons. I was able to get the requested docs mailed on Mar. 20th. EMS tracking for my docs stated that they were shipped to GUZ on the 23rd. However, later I found out (from DOS) that the docs were not recieved by GUZ until April 4th. I assume this is what other folks on CFL mean when they say that EMS shipment/recieve does not = GUZ ship/recieve. There is supposedly some "mailroom" at GUZ where packages are stored until either EMS picks them up for delivery or GUZ officials pick them up for review. I have been calling DOS on a daily basis since our docs were recieved in GUZ. Last Tuesday (April 14th) I recieved an e-mail reply from GUZ after I had asked them about my case status; in the message, GUZ said "your case has been reviewed and will be approved. A letter (call-in letter) will be sent to your fiancee this week...with EMS tracking number EW*********CN...". I immediately called DOS to confirm this. DOS official told me that indeed "the case has been approved". All was good until the next day. I called DOS again just to make sure. This time the rep told me "your case is still under administrative review". OK... So I hung up and called again wishing to ask another rep. This time the rep told me "...it has been approved but no letter has been sent..." I decided to wait it out a few days. So everyday I checked the EMS China website for tracking info with the EMS tracking# GUZ e-mailed me. However, to this day (7days now since that e-mail from GUZ) I still cannot find tracking info for my EMS tracking#. Last Friday I sent another e-mail to GUZ asking them to confirm that what they told me in the previous e-mail response. On Monday(yesterday) they replied "As was stated in our previous response, a call-in letter was sent to your fiancee last week". So again I called DOS yesterday afternoon. The rep said "yes, the call-in letter was sent on April 14th", that would be the day that I recieved my first e-mail response from GUZ stating that " your case has been reviewed and will be approved, a letter will be sent out this week..." Today just a while ago I called DOS again. Now they are saying "your case is still under administrative processing". ????? Anway, I will wait out this week before I fax/email them my fiancee's address and contact info and ask them wtf is going on. Just wanted to share my experience with DOS. Link to comment

Yan and Tom
In our case GUZ sent a second blue about three or four weeks after we sent the info requested by the first blue. Unfortunately they sent it to her work address after she had quit her job. No one told her and we lost about six weeks. Maybe there was another address they could have sent it to. Link to comment
jp2008
More D.O.S. contradictions. Today I called again: twice. Both times I spoke with the SAME rep. The first time the rep said my case was "still being reviewed". I told her that GUZ supposedly had sent out some notice to my fiancee. The rep said "...I don't know about that all I know is that they requested additional info, did you send in the requested info?" I assumed that he/she was referring to the blue slip overcome docs that I sent in on March 20th. So I said yes, then the rep just said "oh ok, well they just need more time to review". After hanging up I began to panic, because it occured to me that this "additional info" that the rep was talking about could be another blue slip?!? I decided to call again (hoping for another rep), but coincidentally the same rep answered. So this time I made it clear that I had e-mailed GUZ and had actually got a reply from GUZ saying that my case was reviewed and that the "call-in" letter was supposedly sent out already. After a few minutes of waiting, the rep came back and said "right...the letter was sent out exactly a week ago on the 14th...the letter for her appointment". I assume this "appointment" she is referring to is the passport drop off. She then told me that I should not be concerned yet since it's "...only been 1 week". Hopefully I get some PHYSICAL info soon. Link to comment

Sebastian
OK - for tomorrow's phone call - try this - Ask for the last 3 'status changes' - the minutiae for each change, and the date each change occurred. Link to comment
Jeff&Qingyun
Hi jp2008, You're not the only one in the black hole of GUZ. I called the DOS on 4-15 to see if my fiancee had an interview date scheduled yet. I was told yes, the interview was scheduled for 5-21 at 7:15AM and the P4 packet was sent out the day before on 4-14. I thought, well, that's wonderful! Just to be sure I called the next day and was told the exact same thing. I just checked the EMS tracking number a few minutes ago and it still shows "no information". So there must be a pile of EMS packages dated 4-14 sitting in a dimly lit corner at GUZ. Maybe, if we hold our breath at the same time someone will send them out today! I would think by now all of us have learned to have some patience with the system, I know I have. Good luck! Jeff Link to comment

jp2008
OK - for tomorrow's phone call - try this - Ask for the last 3 'status changes' - the minutiae for each change, and the date each change occurred. I tried asking for that, but get this, when I asked them for the dates of the updates from GUZ, the rep said "I don't know about that sir". How does he/she not know if the second time I called he/she knew that the 4-14 update was mailing out "call-in" letter? I don't feel like calling DOS anymore, at least not until next week if I we still get no letter. Link to comment
Sebastian
Ain't that a kick in the head ? It's all there, in front of their eyeballs. I'll be torque-ing them soon enough, but not soon enough to be useful for you, to share any helpful hints That is weird though - when you ask for 'the last 3 status changes' - they seem clue-less - I had hoped it would have been an easy 'concept' of just 'scrolling down the screen' or 'jump to history page' or 'jump to 2nd page'. grrrr, grumble gyre and adbendigo-ish trolls seem to be stuck on them keyboards at DOS.
