Some positive news to come out of China is a new move to improve their health care system. The details in the article are sketchy, but I am sure that improvements will be welcomed by the Chinese people.

Interesting story. I asked my wife whether she's heard or read anything about it, and also opened the story in Chinese from the link at the bottom of the article. She said it's the first she'd heard of it, but it sounds very good:

This would be very good news to many Chinese people. It appears that it's still in the planning phase....

Cool. No immediate relief, but they are planning...

By 2020, China will have a basic health-care system that can provide "safe, effective, convenient and affordable" health services to urban and rural residents, according to the tone-setting document.

This will be supplemented by a more detailed implementation plan for the three years until 2011. The plan has yet been published, but the State Council announced earlier this year an investment plan of 850 billion yuan (US$124 billion) for the reform.
