We are thinking about making a trip together to Beijing and see all the sites. She has never been there and I have always wanted to go. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good hotel to stay in? I would like to find one $50 or less a night, but is also fairly close to some of the main attractions there. Would appreciate any suggestions. When I went to see yan a few years ago she made the hotel reservations. It seems that she found some good deals on the web and "she further talked her way to more discounts". There has been a hotel building boom in Beijing the last few years. This with the slow economy deals are to be made. She could talk to a travel agent and find out more ideas. She always had travel agents buy the airline tickets for her and they would have further information about good hotel deals in Bejing. Be aware that some hotels that are lower priced still do not take credit cards. It's close to the Olympic Village and the Forbidden City. In my view, it was much nicer to stay in this hotel, than the grand high-rises that predominate the landscape. Breakfast is 10 RMB per person per day, but there are some small restaurants a 60 second walk away that are much better. It is located back a hutong alley, so they're right there if you want to see them. I think this type of hotel would be more fun than a typical high rise. I stayed in the Beijing Novatel. It was nice but I think the experience was not as authentic as a small hotel. Besides hitting all the major tourist attractions in Beijing, don't miss the Summer Place (very romantic) or the Military Museum (lots of old planes, missles and guy stuff) .
