Jay & Ping
Hello All,We submitted all of our papers to the Chicago Lock Box in November.I just received the Advance Parol document for my wife and daughter. I have been checking our status on line. So far, no change. The parol document came as a surprise. We are waiting for residency and work authorization.I can assume all is well and the remainder should arrive soon? Ping is so ready to get her license and a car. Its so difficult having to ask others for assistance all the time. Other than that, all is well. She learned a new word yesterday that has become veru handy. "Because". She seems to accept it as a reason for everything (so far). We'll see how long it lasts.... Edited February 16, 2009 by Jay & Ping (see edit history) Link to comment

Now, if you had just stepped up to the plate and married her in China, you wouldn't have to worry about getting them out on 'parole'. Link to comment

Jay & Ping
Work Authorization card arrived today! B) Two down, one to go!.... I see it is valid for one year only - will it renew automatically or do I have to watch / renew? Link to comment
Sebastian
Jay - I would suggest you view the EAD card as a 'stopgap' until her greencard arrives. Filing AOS was supposed to have TheGreenCard as the final result - that other stuff (AP and EAD) is, IMO, just a stopgap until the RealDeal arrives. As to 'Renewal' - eek - you raise an interesting question. I do recall someone here on CFL getting a renewal on the EAD, but I can't for the life o me remember how it happened.. I do remember the 'why' - as the GreenCard took f'ing forever to 'get out the door'. Warmest Regards.... Edited February 21, 2009 by Sebastian (see edit history) Link to comment

Warmest Regards....Am I to infer from your comment that the EAD (Employment Authorization) is not required after the "green card" is issued?I'm also not certain if I have to go for an interview for the first two year adjustment of status. All is vague. We received notice and went for biometrics. I havent received any other notices. Looks like I have about 2-3 more months. Sebastian
Heya Jay. Infer away - you'd be right with that 'inference'. Green Card in Hand? Not Need AP or EAD at all. FWIW, there was another case of a visa holder reported here - they had a 2 year card, applied for the 10 year IR-1, and after some time of 'no response' on that gc application - wound up filing a EAD , and she worked with her EAD for about 9 months whilst waiting for the IR-1. IMO, that's really an anomoly, as ideally, when this happens, yer supposed to go to an infopass appointment and get the orginal CR-1 'extended' with a stamp in the passport. The cost for the second (after the fee increase was $340, but, for everyone who filed for AOS AFTER the fee increase, they are free. You file an I-765 EAD application, also for renewals, and include the mailer thing you got with your previous card. Usually, you won't have to worry about this.
