Your pic looks different than Jesse's. His looks more like Badaling as I remember it. But then I'm sure many of the locations look the same.

Mutianyu has the more 'Home Depot' kind of finish to it - I can also see some of the same twists and turns. My avatar here was taken at the top of the mountain in the far background, which you can see in Jesse's photo as well

The wall beyond that is unfinished un-"restored" and not open.

I see it now. I didn't realize how similar the two looked. Both very impressive.

Yes, it's mu tian yu. Not the restored part nearest Beijing.

Great pictures, it reminds me when I went to China the first time and my wife took me to the Great wall. I thought I was in shape but climbing that I was out of breath and it was in the middle of summer too. Keep posting, love the pictures!! :)

Great pics Jesse, thanks for sharing.

Yes, The Wall is truly an impressive place to visit.

It really was quite impressive. No let down after hearing of its grandeur for years.

Jesse, I'm jealous. Never been north of NanJing, but tried to plan a trip to BJ one time. Hope that one day I get to see the Wall. Great pics..thanks for sharing.

There is so much to see in Beijing. Really had no idea the Forbidden City was so large. You really need most of a full day to view it.

Yep - Mutianyu.Thanks for sharing

I thought it was Badaling. Does Mutianyu have one of those slides as well?

we only saw the cable cars, but then there wasn't more than about a dozen people there that day.

Great photo Randy. Looks like the same place we were. They had both the cable cars and a ski-lift sort-of ride to the top. The cable car wasn't working the day we were there so we took the ski-lift ride to the top. It's like mountain climbing up some of the steep steps; many of which are not level. You have the option of taking the luge-ride slide down, or riding the ski lift....

Yes Beijing is so far our favorite place, even though there is so much more to see. But for one city it has much to offer

Randy your pictures of Mutianyu look like the old original stones that the original wall was made from.

Jessie your pictures look like the reconstructed wall at Balaling all of the stone used there are newly made and constructed over the old wall bed.

At least that is what my tour guide told me when I visited each one of them. She and I became close friends.

Either way thank you both for sharing.

It looks like Randy's pics are from the same place we were....Mu tian yu....
