20211alzh
My topic is no doubt confusing, so bear with me. My fiance has recently arrived after much delay, and our first month together in the States has been generally awesome. In any event, we attempted to get a SSN for her today, but ran into a problem. My fiance was born in 1983, and her passport and all (almost?) of her documents support that. However, perhaps in haste or nervousness, she wrote her birth year as 1982 on the I-94 form when she arrived in the U.S. Consequently, according to the Social Security official we spoke with, the DHS has 1982 as her birth year, and because of that conflict would not allow the SSN application to go through. The official said we needed to get the birth date changed with the DHS. But she also said that we didn't need to re-apply for the SSN as she would send in the application anyway... or... now I must admit that I'm no longer sure what she said, except that we didn't need to return to the SS office to re-apply. So, I'm a bit worried and confused. Ultimately, I suppose my question is, first, has anyone else had this (hopefully) minor misfortune and understood better than I what needs to be done? Secondly, what is the best way to fix this information with Homeland Security? Thank you,Brian Link to comment

20211alzh
Thanks for the quick reply. I suppose I knew Infopass would be the way to do it. Another question, I'm curious as to how exactly the DHS has my fiance filed. What I mean is, if I were to call them (or fill out the Infopass form) would I use the old receipt number from the NoA or something else to reference our case? I may have found the answer: her Alien Number, which is both on the I-797C form and written on the back of her I-94 form. Thanks again.
