There are also Congressional elections - one third of the senate, and all of the House is up for election every 2 years. The power in thye Congress has changed hands twice (once in the House and once in the Senate) in the last 4 years.

 

The Supreme court judges are nominated for life by the president, and approved by Congress.

My wife found our political process to be interesting as well. When Obama won the election she said that he was very young for the position. She said no one that young would ever be the head of China. But then she said she thought that our way was better.

 

Bill Clinton was actually a year younger than Obama when he was elected for his first term. It must be the gray hair...
