zoeandmorgan
dear all, we just got our CR1 visa and plan to go to states for Xmas and then back for another three months to wrap everything up. So how long will we receive our green card? two weeks? one month? Also If I get back to China in Jan, can I reenter next April ? Confused.... THANKS Link to comment
warpedbored
It's difficult to say. From what I have heard the green card usually comes about a month after entering the country. Link to comment
LeeFisher3
With the CR-1 there will be a stamp in the passport showing CR-1 which is valid for a year as I recall, it's the same thing as a green card. Link to comment
dnoblett
When entering on an IMMIGRANT visa like CR-1 or IR-1 the POE officer stamps passport with I-551 stamp, this stamp makes passport act as a temp green-card until you get actual card. The I-551 stamp allows re-entry after a trip abroad. The I-551 stamp will also allow entry to Canada, Mexico and neighboring islands in Caribbean without a visitors visa. Link to comment

zoeandmorgan
Thanks all for the answers!!! I also read some articals about POE only in certain airports, not all. For example, only JFK in New York.????? Could we just fly in any airports? So if I didn't get a hardcopy Green Card before I come back to China, the Stamp would work as a multi-entry visa to usa? REALLY APPRECIATED! Link to comment

REALLY APPRECIATED! The K-1 comes with 90 days worth of Employment Authorization, regardless of which POE you use. JFK puts a stamp in your passport to that effect. Don't go out of your way for it. CR-1 IS multi-entry visa, again regardless of which POE. K-1 is only a single-entry visa. Edited November 21, 2008 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment
zoeandmorgan
Thanks Randy. We are CR-1. And booked the tickets to LGA. Laguardia in New york. Wish all the best!!! Since it is the holiday season, will that delay us getting the hard copy of green card? thanks Link to comment
