Tom and Ling
Asked my son about this and he said that"Anything's possible in China" He said that unless you want to spread a little 'ahem' gratitude around it will be difficult to overcome this problem. Yeah, too many kids. Hi slw268, I wonder how much gratitude has to be spread around...... I guess we will have to see how much private school will cost, but I willmention the gratitude to Ling..... Tom and Ling Tom: First of all, money speaks louder than voice in China secondly, Did you take the teachers to Dinner and Lunch? Thirdly, It has somethig to do with your wife's ID book (Hokou ?) which may have to be changed to the new city or province. And lastly, many children have to go to private schools for that very reason. Another possiblity is this: Let the boys continue their education in their previous school and stay with a relative or a friend, until you figure out what to do with them. Tom and Ling
Hi Ken88, Our children can't stay with relatives as all the relatives are in Nanning where Ling moved to.So, we have decided to send the boys to private school in Nanning.Private school doesn't cost that much and so it will cost me about 3000 Yuan per term for two boys which also includes lunch.... Compared to the US...private school in China is Cheap.... Tom and Ling Hi All, I just do not understand the Public School system in China???maybe your wifes can comment on this..?? All top primary/secondary schools/universities in China are public ones. Link to comment
corvette
For primary school enrollment, it usually starts in Mar/Apr every year. kids must have a Hukou in the same area of the schools because of the huge population. Otherwise you must pay premium - the so-called school selection fee. The better schools charge higher fees. Now it's too late for enrollment. All places must have been filled up a few months ago. The best public primary school in GZ charge RMB160,000 for premium if the kid's hukou is not within the same area or if the kid's entry exam results are not satisfactory. Link to comment
Guest lilac6451
In China, all the primary and junior schools can only recruit the kids who live in that area. Or the school will be in trouble when the educational bureau knows about it. So that is the main reason. Another reason has something to do with the large population. According to statistic, this century the population will rise to the peak. So every primary school is over populated unless the very poor qualitied ones. Some key primary schools will recruit some bright kids by giving a test in the month of July outside the area, and this is the time the boys will have a chance to get in. I dont know about other area, this is the practice of the primary school affiliated to the school I am working at. Private schools in China mostly are not good. Link to comment
