Which form or instruction set asks for Ex-spouses' SSN

Recommended Posts

It only becomes a REQUEST when the blue slip asks for it. When they ask for something that is not reasonable for you to provide, a letter of explanation is ALWAYS acceptable.

If your SO is FULLY cooperative, I recommend providing it. Otherwise, I think you should consider the letter instead.

It's not possible to argue with a blue slip.

I remember when I was in the Military there was always the "Privacy act statement" you had to sign any time the SS was asked for on a form, if GUZ is asking for a SS I would think they should also be providing the "Privacy act statement" and to ask an Ex to provide the SS of the other Ex is I would think to be illegal maybe I am wrong but I know I would not want my SS being freely given to anyone without my consent.

Making the request is not illegal and asking Guz for a privacy act statement is reasonable.

You can demand a privacy act statement as required by law and during the process involved in forcing them to give you the privacy act statement, which might involve the courts, the case file in GZ gets cold and the visa is not issued because you haven't provided the requested information.

Just another catch-22, but since they hold the visa printing machine, they hold all the good cards. Right and legal become expensive words in that case.

Shucks, "right and legal" have nothing to do with the DOS's Goobers in Guangzhou.

Those hoodlums are like Judge Roy Bean. They make up the law as they see fit, and NO ONE IS WATCHING OVER THEM. Even had a DOS "specialists" admit that on the phone yesterday.

We had my ex wife's SSN, color copy of her drivers license, 2 of her utility bills, and a copy of her mortage payment...all together with other overcome evidence in a clearly marked "overcome" folder, at the interview.

We were ready to overcome a potential blue slip that asked for more evidence AT THE INTERVIEW WINDOW WITH THE VO.

I had already "front loaded" our initial application with everything I could thinnk of and research and I would have felt like a real ass if she had indeed gotten a questions asked type blue slip and I hadn't afforded her the possibility to overcome it at the window because "I didn't think they should ask for stuff like that".

Guys, prepare your loved one so that if she gets a blue or white slip...your ass can go to sleep that night knowing that YOU did everything possible for her to pass.

Don't get lulled into inaction by the few 3 questions with a smile and a pink slip interviews you're seeing recently. They are NOT the TRUE PICTURE of what is continuing to go on in GUZ.
