After Greencard how to travel?

Recommended Posts

If she goes back to China to visit faimly what documents does she need?

If we go on vacation to Israel or England.

I assume she has to apply for Visa to whatever country we want to visit other than China(for her).

She can not get a U.S passport until she is a citizen

Her Chinese Passport to get into China, then Chinese Passport and her USA Greencard to get back into USA.

Visas issued by Israel and the United Kingdom in her Chinese Passport. To get back into USA, need Chinese Passport and Greencard.

Absolutely Correct !!

One exception, Green-Card holders can visit Canada, Most of the neighboring islands in the Caribbean, without a visa, and Mexico with a tourist card.

A few other exception; places like Switzerland and some others. Just look. Most will require a visa.

Great tool to figure out visa requirements can be found here: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...rt_information/

Fill in Citizenship = China, Resident = USA, and country going to and/or connecting through.

Where are you applying for the Visa?

In America of course.

When your wife applies with a foreign consulate located in America, she will be treated differently than in China.

Example:

Chinese people applying for South Korea Visa withing China must make a $10,000+ deposit, refunded when they return to China.

Chinese tourist visiting Thailand, wants to go to South Korea,MUST return to Beijing and apply at the South Korea Consulate there.

Im not saying all countries will be friendly to the Chinese Green Card holder, but they will be treated better than if they were in China.

Better contact each individual countrie's consulate well in advance of travel, and explain to them IN DETAIL if you are arriving/departing by ship/air/land etc.

ALSO,some countries allow DIRECT round trip travel/transit visa free, but do not allow the Chinese person to stop in or continue on to a third country, without a visa.

NEVER bet on any of these,MAKE SURE your wife has ALL the Visas before you begin travel, because its not worth it if you get jammed up in the middle of your trip because of some ignorant border offical,or new law or regulation begining to take effect.
