Reddragon75
Hey all...I am a little confused about what exactly the NOA1 and NOA2 is. I did receive something from the USCIS within 2 weeks of filing the I-129F, but I am not exactly sure what it is. The form number on it is I-797. Is this the NOA1? Will I eventually be assigned a case number or something? Can someone explain the differnece between the NOA1 and NOA2? Link to comment

If you look in the upper left hand corner, you will see a receipt number. This WAC # will be your tracking number while your file is at the Service Center. After all the processing is accomplished/completed at the Service Center, you will receive the NOA-2, which is the approval notice at the time your file exit¡¯s the SC and moves on to the NVC, for the next step in processing. You can refer to other member¡¯s timelines to see the usual processing flow. You can also log on to the USCIS web site and create your own log in account, so you can track progress while in the USCIS purview and also sign up for e-mail notification of that progress. dnoblett
The first letter after filing a petition like I-129F is NOA1, it is the receipt notice, usually arrives within a few weeks after filing the petition. The second letter from USCIS, usually several months later is the approval notice or NOA2. NOA = Notice Of Action. Link to comment
warpedbored
Keep these notices in your records. Particularly NOA-2. You will need later for adjustment of status. Link to comment
