I am applying fora.an extension of stay in my current status.b.a change of status, the new status i am requesting is>______c.other ( describe grounds of eligibility)__________ i was going to fill in b, a change of status, but there are only 5 options i can choose from B-1A,B,C,D, OR B-1 i think i should fill in c.other then say employment H-1B Any ideas??thanks a lotwendy Link to comment

I think your sponsoring employer would handle the application for a work visa. Form I-539:Application To Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status Purpose of Form : For nonimmigrants to request extensions of stay or changes from one nonimmigrant category to another nonimmigrant category. Please see the form¡¯s instructions for your specific nonimmigrant visa category. It is used by F and M nonimmigrants seeking reinstatement of status. It is also used by K-3/4 nonimmigrants to request extensions of stay and by persons seeking V nonimmigrant status while in the United States or extension of stay as a V nonimmigrant.Does this make sense? annapolise Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 H,thanks and yes i do need I-539, which i have been told by USCIS officer.I-539 and I-129 together to may to H-1B CAP service centerand i did ready I-529 it says B visitors may file this form to extend or change of status.well i would still need the answer to my question thoughthanks a lot.
