floresa1
My lovely wife is finally here on a K3 visa. We got married in china last year and finally she made it home!!! She has gotten her Texas ID and she recently had her Biometrics taken. Now what is to be expected? She cant get a drivers license because she has no SS number. How does the process work for K3 visas? Do we have to marry again here in the US? Somebody help??? Link to comment
LeeFisher3
The next step for most is to file for AOS, which I would imagine you have already done since she just had biometrics completed. If you filed for EAD along with the adjustment she should be receiving it about 30 days after the biometrics. Then she can get an SSN and that opens many more doors. As for marrying again, can't do it legally because you are both already legally married, in China I believe and to each other. Link to comment
Randy W
If you aren't immediately applying for AOS, you can apply for EAD separately. This would allow you to get the SS number, but check the fees. They've changed, and it may cost you more money to do it this way. Link to comment

Somebody help??? in washington state you can get a driver's license without a SSN. did you ask the DMV in tejas? you don't have to marry again in the USA. file for AOS and, depending on the new instructions, file for EAD. for us filing for EAD was a waste of money, but that's because we had our interview for greencard 4 months after filing for AOS and that before the interview the EAD was never processed. however, you need either the EAD or AOS interview pass to get SSN. so, in general, the wise thing to do is file for EAD and AOS because if the AOS takes a long time (for many it has), and considering the EAD is supposed to be processed quicker, then at least she can work and get an SSN...won't have to feel like a second rate citizen forever basically.
