Gift ideas??

Recommended Posts

Hey Michael,

When I first came to China and thought I was going to meet her parents (which happened on the second trip) I decided to buy her some mexican goods (cookies , candies, chocolate, and other mexican imported goods and gum ) call it the worst gifts as it may be but at the time it was all I could think of. I did make up for it as the second trip I invited all their family out on the second trip in China and took them to a nice fancy restaurant to eat. But if you have the money and can spend a sumful, I would get them something neat and stay away from anything "made in China" . I know for a fact that T.V.'s , laptops , and other electronic goods are rather more expensive than in China than in USA. I really doubt you can find a good notebook for less than $1000. If the parents don't have a laptop and think they would like one, I would go for a decent notebook , after all you may be able to catch the black friday sales that go on after Thanksgiving. :(. If you think that your lao po will talk to their parents and think she might spend hours talking to them in USA. Get a skype phone , but make sure it's one that has a long battery duration. I know that is how my lao po and I talk. I use a skype wi-fi phone which actually is a very awful model and the battery life is bad. But the advantages of using it overshadow that aspect. As I have no monthly bills, no contracts, and no worries. I do however have a phone number , skype credit when I choose to buy it, and voice mail , call forwarding you name it. All this for just a moment of disruptive noise quality. If anyone would like to know and ask me a question about it, please feel free to do so!!

Thanks and good luck on buying your lao po's family a great gift.

Thank you everyone!!!
