Qsdby
Hello, everyone, I am new here and I think that it is great family. I am so happy to know here now and be a member. We are K1 and K2, we are waiting for interview for AOS, I read information that we don't need to do medical examination if our interview is within one year of our examination before we got our visa, yet how can we prove to the interview officer that K1 and k2 don't need the medical examination, can I find any documention from USCIS webside, so I can print it out and bring it with our interview?Thank you in advance for any information! LeeFisher3
Welcome. I think you are mixing information about the Visa and AOS interview. For the visa interview EVERYONE has a medical examination, it is required. Most do this in Guangzhou, but it can be done in a few other selected cities. When filing for AOS you only need to have proof that the vaccinations are up to date, if you had a medical exam within one year. One thing you can do to make your child's life easier is to have your fiancée locate the child's shot records. Most children born after 1990 have a record book of vaccinations. Then if it is possible get her to take this to the local medical facility she used and have them stamp it. After the visa interview both can go for vaccinations and get a Yellow book(international vaccination record), for the K-2 they may require a couple of shots but will usually transfer the child's records to the yellow book. In my son's case this was done and he only had to get one additional shot because they could not verify if the polio vaccine was oral or by shot. This saved him from a whole series of shots once he got to the US. Edited July 8, 2007 by LeeFisher3 (see edit history) Link to comment
Qsdby
Thank you very much for your response! We had medical examination in Guangzhou this Feb, and we will have our AOS interview in the coming Sep, I read the interview appointment notice and it said that we need to bring medical examination and vaccination to the interview, so how can I convince that interview officer that K1 and K2 don't need medical examination because we had the medical examination in Guangzhou this Feb? yet we don't have the sealed medical examination result in our hand. tywy_99
The I-693 supplement form is needed for the I-485, application to adjust satus form. You need to visit your local civil surgeon to get this done. They will hand you the sealed envelope to take with you to the AOS interview.Just work it all out with the civil surgeon. And find a good one! Link to comment
dnoblett
I-485 Instructions: Fianc¨¦(e)s.If you are a K-1 fianc¨¦(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the non immigrant fianc¨¦(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application. When in Guangzhou Yu had a medical done as well as vaccinations done, the medical was needed for the Visa, and when we filed for AOS we had the Vaccination record that she got in Guangzhou transfered to a vaccination supplement by a USCIS recognized Civil Surgeon here in the USA as per the requirements of AOS and noted in I-485 instructions. warpedbored
You don't need to convince them. They already know that if you have a K visa you had a medical exam before the visa was issued. You do need to submit the I-693 supplimental for vaccinations. If you had them done in GZ then call around until you find a civil surgeon who will fill out the I-693 supplimental for you. This should be only a small fee of less than $50.00 The civil surgeon will give you a sealed envelope with the form inside. Send this in with your AOS paperwork. If you didn't get the vaccinations in GZ then often a county health clinic can give them to you for free or not very much money. Also your husbands health insurance may cover it. This is usually cheaper than having a civil surgeon give the vaccinations. Either way a civil surgeon has to sign off on it. Link to comment
Randy W
At our AOS interview, the IO fumbled around for a while for a new medical exam, until I pointed out the old one was less than a year old. He seemed to expect a new one, but was happy with the old. Link to comment

Let them do whatever they want for you to get that sealed envelope but don't let them take advantage of you because some of them are definitely crooks.HIV testing is okay. Usally they want the TB skin test. That's okay too. Link to comment

I have the medical examination results from Guangzhou but not sealed, I think that in my file in USCIS, they also have the medical examination that I handed in with sealed envelop in Guangzhou, Do I need to bring the medical results I have with me now to the interview, or I don't need to? No sense going to the interview only to have the officer ask for something that you left home. The file that you take to the interview should contain (Visa petition package, Visa interview package, AOS package, and all originals of the evidence submitted.) Link to comment
