do you fill in the box outlined by heavy border if my SO doesn't have an alien registration number.

Applicant: Be sure to put your name and alien registration number in the box outlined by heavy border below. (She has no alien reg. num.)

Actually she does have an Alien Registration Number it is the A#, can find it in 2 places, on the NOA2 I-129F approval notice above her name, or perhaps the officer at the POE wrote it on the back side of the I-94 card that they stapled in her passport.

You can fill in part 5 or leave blank, part 5 is mostly for if you used a professional preparer, like a lawyer.

What box are we talking about? is it on G-325A?

VJ has a good guide for this as well as I-485 example form.

Ah Ha, Yup, she does have one. As you said it was on the I-797, NOA2 above her name

and yes I was filling out the G-325A as required with the I-485

Thanks again dnoblett

When filing the I-485 you will only need her G-325A, the US citizen wont need to do one for the I-485.
