update EAD card

Hi there

I would like to know how I update my EAD card since my green card isnt here yet after 9 months. Thank you for any information.

Renewing your EAD. You may renew your EAD when your EAD nears expiration. You must renew your EAD to be able to work until you become a Permanent Resident (or Conditional Permanent Resident) at which time your "Green Card" will be proof of eligibility to work. A suggestion before filing is to check the processing time of the local office you will be sending your EAD to and file at a time equal to the number of days before your EAD expires. ex: if the processing time is three months then apply for a renewal three months before your EAD expires. You will file as category ©(9), "adjustment applicant"

There is also a box to "Renew" instead of getting a new one. Th new one will take effect the day the old one expires.

Thats the way it should work, unfortunately it ain't so.

 

A renewal EAD that is approved prior to expiration date carries the approval date in spite of having 30-60 days left on the old one. This is something the GAO has reported about the USCIS, who responded by this is the way it is.

The same thing happend to us. I wasted $175!

Maybe they fixed it. Worked for us. The old one expired May 10 - new one effective May 11, even though we got it in early April.

 

We've wasted $350 so far.

PS ... Er Mei arrived the day before Mother's Day on her K2 follow to join. You can imagine how happy Lao Po is!!

Thank you very much, guys. I will spend another $175 updating my EAD card because they lost my I-846 affidavit of support form. See this is "....one nation under God , indivisible with liberty and justice for all."

I am too frustrated to talk about anything related to immigration process.However, i appreciate all of you who care about each other like a big family.
