izus
I did a little looking on the SSA website and found a few interesting things about the numbers, the SSA publishes a High group list, and I suspect the bank is using an older highgroup.txt file in their software and your new card is outside the list of valid numbers. See: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/stateweb.htm Here is the current list: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/highgroup.txt My personal one starts 062- and the second group is less than what is on the list so is valid, in my case if a handed a card lets say is 062-97-XXXX looking at the High Group List chart it would be declared invalid. I too am one of those IT-Geeks this is without a doubt the issue i checked with the list and her number does not exist on it..apparently the banks have just thathighgroup file that compares with the latest and greatest numbers.as soon as the more recent numbers are on this highgroup list she will be able to be added to the accounts.....very informative dnoblett thanks Link to comment
izus
the next question that arises is how often is this list updated? every month? Link to comment
