No. Those who come here on K visas do. A CR1 does not require this.

 

If you want to make sure your wife has the details on your underwear, go ahead. Mine sure does. It's also a good idea for her to be prepared to verbally offer answers that are consistent with information contained in any documents in the possession of the Visa Officer. The interview will take as long as it takes.

 

If somebody was actually put through what you were told, then there was probably some inconsistency that caused suspicion. Proper preparation will go a long way to eliminate that. My advice is to stop worrying about horror stories and spend your time and energy building a relationship. That way your wife will be prepared with the correct answers when she needs them.
