Good!

That happens when they are having problems delivering the mail, and happens to me several times sending express or regular mail to China. At one time, I even wrote down the wrong street name and they were delivered (though takes much longer)...

I believe that "EMS" stands for Express Mail Service, but there's something lost in the English-to-Chinese translation. In America, "Express" means quickly. In Chinese, it simply means "you get to pay more money". On average, the service doesn't appear to be any more efficient than the standard postal service.

But it's good that they called to verify the address! Now, I wonder, what would have prompted them to do that? Illegible address on the envelope?

Best of luck to you in receiving the letter and getting the visa soon! The wait is about over. Congrats!!!

I think what prompted them to call was that addresses can be very confusing in China. There are local area names, as well as Street names and apartment building numbers as well as apartment numbers and floor numbers, not to mention City names and proviences. The address she gave them (GZ) was written on a white envelope and then had to be transcribed onto the EMS package by someone at the consulate. Any how we should get it, good thing they had her phone number.
