Are you the beneficiary (living in China) or the petitioner (living in US)? From the sound of it, it looks like you sent in a reply for your P3. If that's the case, it's very difficult to tell how long it will take before they enter it into their system. Normally, it can take for several days, to even several weeks. edit....Just saw your timeline.... Edited April 7, 2006 by ShaQuaNew (see edit history) Link to comment
frank1538
I'm a little confused. If you mailed a form to your fiancee and for some reason it's hung up at DHL, I'd do one of two things. I'd get on the phone with them and sort it out. Normally, personal deliveries via DHL don't get hung up like this. In the alternative, your fiancee can just download the DS-230. Here's a link where you can find the form: http://home.comcast.net/~donahso/index.htm If the problem is DHL not yet delivering the package sent by NVC to the consulate, that's a different story. You can do a search about why NVC shipments encounter a "customs delay", but here are a few links just in case. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...topic=13778&hl=http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...topic=12898&hl=http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...topic=11997&hl=http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14580 Link to comment

I was just trying to be helpful and mail her a completed typed form. She speaks very little English but has help from English speaking friends, so we are making progress in filling out the forms via e-mails and IM's but this process is slow. I am in contact with DHL and they are trying to sort the problem out. At this point I feel I am entitled to a refund. I spent $39.29 for express delivery service from me to her and they haven't made good for whatever reason. I think my package is included among a larger ship that requires a clearance from Chinese Customs. It's partly my fault too. I had these forms completed for sometime now and got caught with my pants down when she received her P3. I will begin mailing her the P4 suporting documents once this mess is staighten out. I will try USPS Golbal Priority Mail this time and it is much cheaper. Whatever I have tried to mail her in the past takes months or she doesn't receive it at all. I always use an address in English and Chinese. She mailed me a package containing sweaters and other gifts and they arrived in just over a week. Go Figure I think what we need is fax machines. What do you think and what does it cost to fax from US to China / China to US? Thanks,Tom Link to comment
tywy_99
There was a case one time when a petitioner mailed forms to his fiancee via FEDEX and the package was held by customs for inspection. This is what it sounds like to me.It sounds like Tom K mailed the completed DS-230 to his fiancee via DHL and now it is being held. Could this be the reason? Whatever the reason, I think it is at the discretion of the authorities involved to be able to delay a package for inspection. It has happend before. Link to comment
Guest ShaQuaNew
Have you considered getting a copy of Adobe Acrobat Writer? With this version you can open a copy of blank PDF forms and save them to your local drive. From there, you can then email the completed form to her..... Link to comment

I have had total success mailing documents to my fiancee using air mail through the post office. I print the address in Chinese with only "Peoples Republic of China" in English. Letter postage is 84 cents and she has received every one in 10 days or less. I also sent a large envelope with over 100 pages of material the same way and there was no problem. Link to comment

Tom K
According to the DHL customer rep. Chinese Customs needs to contact DaoNing by telephone? This turning out to be a real fiasco! Tom Link to comment

I think it would a real challenge when your partner has both marginal English and PC skills. In that case, mailing a copy of what it should look like, or something for her to sign may well be the best option. Practicing beforehand too.... Link to comment

DHL Customer Servive says I'm entitled to refund. We did manage to complete the forms using a scanner. Thanks,Tom Link to comment
