Belinda
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, so take it easy on me :-P Usually how long does it take to get US citizenship from filing of N400? Thank you so much. Link to comment

frank1538
You might check the processing times shown on USCIS's website: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp Although the N-400 is filed with the Service Center, it appears that the processing is handled by the district office, so check the processing times for the district office that serves your area. The processing times are not the most accurate, but they do give you an idea. Link to comment

Many many thanks!205217[/snapback]I ran across this: http://www.ilw.com/immigdaily/News/2001,0806-Fingerprint.pdf Although the memorandum deals with fingerprints, it certainly sounds like a criminal check is performed: "Public Law 105-119 requires that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) receive confirmation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that a full criminal background check has been completed before adjudicating a naturalization application." This makes sense given that one of the requirements for naturalization is "good moral character." Link to comment
