ShanghaiFred
Hey everyone, I just received an e-mail response to my inquiry sent to NVC. They said that my GUZ number has been received. But after giving the number they say the following:"As part of the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, there are additional security check requirements for visa applicants. While it is not possible to predict when all the clearances for this case will be finished by all the involved Washington agencies, please be assured that as soon as the results are received, the case file will immediately be forwarded to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate." I am just wondering if this is standard for them to put this in every e-mail that they send out until the petition has been sent to GZ. Have others received the same wording? Just wondering what to make of it. Should I be worried yet? Thanks! Link to comment

ShanghaiFred
Ok, just a little worried as they mention "additional security check requirements" and "all involved Washington agencies." It sounds canned. But are all security checks performed in Washington? I thought this was a New Hampshire thing? Link to comment

If you do a search for 'name check' and 'security check' here on the site, I believe you will find a wealth of information about the security check process. New Hampshire just happens to be the physical location of the NVC, but I think that right from the start, there are security checks being requested, regardless of where the application happens to be in the process. I guess this name check process is somewhat known, somewhat unknown as to exactly how and what is done, but it is for everyone, and is all done at DC. Link to comment
ShanghaiFred
Thanks Amriken, that is really good to know. For as much reading that I try to do on the process, it always seems like a mystery to me when a new response from them is in my hands. Cheers Link to comment
